Testimonials

For the past three years we have had the pleasure of communicating with several administrators and teachers in the Prairie Rose School Division. Their enthusiasm is high and their results are equally as high. This is the story of Lowell Leffler, Deputy Superintendent of the Prairie Rose School Division in Alberta, Canada, and how the division teachers are developed into effective teachers.

Lowell Leffler has been a guiding light in the development of our program. We owe Lowell a huge debt of gratitude as he has taken Palliser under his wing and helped us grow our program into the success story it continues to become. His leadership in induction program development should be shared with each and every central office administrator attempting to develop a program. Palliser looks forward to continuing our work with Lowell as we journey from good to great."

Lowell assisted in helping us to shape our process. His wealth of experience and capacity to present in a clear and common sense manner moved our district forward to where we now feel confident in our own program. Working with Lowell will be an investment in your people that will improve learning and morale in your organization.

Thank you for the fabulous workshop you presented July 22, 2008 at the New Jersey ASCD(Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). I truly enjoyed the day and am looking forward to implementing some of the program’s ideas in Chester, New Jersey this year, as well developing an ongoing program for the future. Again, thank you for an enjoyable, inspirational and worthwhile workshop.

As a second year teacher, the Teacher Induction Program has prepared me for the successes and challenge of my profession. I have had an exceptionally positive experience these past two years in the teacher induction program of Prairie Rose School Division #8. Prairie Rose has allowed their beginning teachers to gain and retain quality tools that not only promote growth among students but also growth among their teachers.

The teacher induction program has been by far one of the best experiences that I could have had as a new teacher to the district. I especially appreciated everything that the program had to offer me because I had actually quit teaching for a few years after being a 1st year teacher in another district. Today I can attribute the success in my classroom to all of the knowledge, help and continued support that the induction program has offered me.

The first and most apparent benefit of the program was that it gave me a sense of belonging. I was introduced and welcomed into the Prairie Rose family. There was no question that they wanted me to succeed and would provide the support to ensure that this would happen.

Quotes from First Year Teachers:

Honestly, I can’t think of anything about the Induction process that I would change. Providing us with a copy of Harry Wong’s book was really beneficial. It is full of great ideas for new or experienced teachers. You have created an awesome induction for new teachers and the students in our division will truly benefit from this.

It was an amazing process. All the sessions were informative and it was great meeting everyone. Overall the induction was excellent. I feel more confident and successful having the ideas reinforced before my first day of school. I look forward to our meetings throughout the year.

My initial reaction to spending three days in August going through an Induction program was “My time would be better spent planning for all the curriculum that I would be teaching”. Needless to say, those 3 days were the most valuable planning I could ever do. The induction program was one of the best experiences that I could have had as a teacher new to the division.
