Transmit and Promote Your Culture

Transmit and Promote Your Culture:

The most difficult part of any change or move is becoming familiar with the culture of the new environment. This is not only for new teachers coming from the University but for any teacher coming into a new jurisdiction. An induction program has been shown to be very effective for welcoming new members into the “TEAM” and for quickly transmitting the expectations and priorities that are unique, yet critical. When teachers are put into cohorts that meet together frequently for up to a period of three years, the bonds that are formed provide a support system that is often the lifeline they need during times of stress.

Some additional benefits that accrue from induction are related to the development of leadership skills. A commitment to the organization often results in teachers taking on administrative and leadership roles that are essential for any effective jurisdiction. This can also result in a heightened feeling of job satisfaction and morale. When everyone works together as a team, the likelihood of success is enhanced.
